Since the last time I attended a major conference, Twitter has really grown big. In fact, you can now get a pretty good glimpse of the news and tips presented only by following the conference on Twitter.
There’s no doubt that the attendants at a conference like Search Engine Strategies are heavy users and early adopters of a social media like Twitter. In other words, there is a lot of tweets flying through the WiFi here at the Design Centre in London. This means that you can actually follow the event through Twitter and get a lot of good information, both from the audience and from the speakers themselves, which is quite fun.
To give you an example from the last 10 minutes, this is what you’d learn through following #seslondon through Twitter:
You see - lots of good information, tips and news. And this was only during 10 minutes, so following the whole event would give you a lot of information!
In fact tweets from SES London are so frequent that #seslondon is the fifth most popular topic on Twitter right now.
But even though this is fun and good learning, my first priority would of course be to go to the conference myself. But if the time or money are issues you can’t solve, then following the event on Twitter could be a solution.
PS! Twitter is fun and interesting, but you shouldn’t forget to read the blog reports as well (i.e. mine, Rand Fishkin’s at SEOmoz, Search Cowboys).
And now, lunchbreak at SES
